Update 1: So far, so good. Put in my time with the blue pencil last night. And did the Nyarlathotep markup today. You can see a scan of the first page of the text. It’s broken down into pictures, speech and words and captions. Then I counted out the panels and split them into pages based on my feel for the pacing. Finally, made a few notes in the margins about good quotes from other sources such as the letter that inspired the story and the sonnet of the same name.
Update 2: Here’s what the Venom plot looks like in non-photo blue. I’ll be creating finished pencils on top of this tonight and tomorrow night. Did some scanning of Winsor McCay cartoons for reference and found the entire Dream of the Rarebit Fiend online in high resolution. Aw, public domain. Also sought out some Alphonse Mucha for color scheme/style inspiration.
